Self Care Sunday: A list of self care ideas and journal prompts

Physical things you can do

  • Wear makeup you wouldn’t normally wear.
  • Go for a walk
  • Do some yoga or meditation
  • Have a dance party
  • Have a karaoke session
  • Meal prep for the week ahead
  • Do your skincare, have a bath, paint your nails
  • Get out your journal or diary and write down any appointments for the year ahead and plan some ‘ME’ time.
  • Have a massage or a manicure.
  • Call an old friend
  • Light your favourite candle
  • Create different playlists for your moods, play them and acknowledge what you’re feeling and remember that it is valid
  • Make your favourite meal or do some baking.

Prompts that you can explore in your journal I advised a few weeks ago.

  1. Your best personality trait is . . .
  2. Write a love letter to your body thanking it for carrying you and keeping you alive.
  3. What’s the last compliment you received?
  4. What compliment do you want the most? Give it to yourself.
  5. Write down the positive ways you’ve changed over the past five or ten years.
  6. Write a letter to yourself accepting yourself for who you are.
  7. List five opportunities to treat yourself with compassion.
  8. What are my expectations of myself? Are they realistic?
  9. How do you remind yourself that you’re enough?
  10. What’s your ultimate goal in life?
  11. What is causing you stress right now?
  12. How will making myself a priority positively impact my life?

  1. Those are some great journalling prompts to set your day right. While I have enough to babble about through freewriting, I also do appreciate the power of prompts to streamline the process. Thanks for sharing!
