Genre: Positivity/Self help/MentalHealth
Plot: For many of us, life can feel like it’s moving too fast with pressure bearing down on us from all sides – whether that’s from school or work, family or social media. As a result, we find ourselves frazzled, lost and – too often – feeling blue.
It’s a subject close to Fearne’s heart. Drawing on her own experiences and including expert advice, HAPPY offers practical ways of finding joy each and every day. Happiness isn’t a mountain to climb, it’s just one foot in front of the other on the path of life, and here you’ll find little steps that will help make the differences that count. With workbook elements to help you start and end the day well; get in touch with your creative side; and find peace through written exercises, simple practical ideas and visualisations, these are daily tricks and reminders to help you unlock that inner happiness.
My verdict: As someone who struggles with being a perfectionist and comparison anxiety this book was both informative, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Ms cotton shows us that even though she is in the limelight she still struggles like us in an age of social media and mental health worries. The only reason why I gave it four out of 5 is because I struggle with the concept that a book can help in regards to these things but that’s more of a personal opinion. Thank you to Ms Cotton for bearing your soul and showing us ways to be more happy and contented with what we have instead of what we haven’t got. This book does make you stop and reflect and take stock of the good things that happen in your life. Perfect for those who are into mental health issues, mindfulness and positivity. I think this book would be a great read for teachers of adolescences going through puberty and hormone changes as well as the stress of exams and university. You could easily implement some of these exercises into personal social health lessons. A must read for counsellors too.
