Genre: YA/ Fairytale retelling
Plot: The end of one story is often the beginning of another. Hollywood heartthrob Brian Oliver and his Cinderella princess Ellamara Rodriguez have finally found love outside the digital world. But leaving their anonymity behind creates a whole new set of obstacles for the nation’s new favorite sweethearts. With the stress of Brian’s fame and the pressures of a new relationship weighing down on them, the It Couple quickly begins to wonder if they can hold on to their newfound joy, or if maybe happily ever after is only a fairy tale.
A lovely conclusion to Brian and Ella’s story as well as highlighting how we see our bodies due to the media. The book also tackles disabled and able bodied relationships as well as society’s view of sex and entertainment. This book is witty, funny and thought provoking and made me reexamine my life and attitude towards my own disability. A modern fairytale worth reading – would love it if there was a third book from Brian’s POV and his stolen childhood or rise to fame and possibly a prequel of Ella’s life before her accident? I am a firm fan of Oram’s sensitive and colourful storytelling.
